Welcome to my blog!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog!

My name is Matt and I am a mathematics teacher candidate. I just graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree at UBC in May 2020 with a major in mathematics and economics and a minor in psychology.  My hobbies include playing hockey, working on cars, snowboarding, and reading science fiction novels.

I love working with students and is very passionate about continued lifelong learning. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to volunteer with Native Education College (NEC) and the Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) the past summer to help Aboriginal high school students from the Downtown Eastside improve their math skills and work towards completing their math courses and be ready for school in September.

During my time at UBC, I also did a co-op term at Science World in 2018 and continued to work there until COVID-19 forced them to close. Science World was such as fun place to work and I enjoyed experiencing educating science in an informal education setting.
